Straight Lines - what a challenge

Here my posts for the Diva Challenge of this week #219, using all straight lines. I'm nog used to making a tile with only straight lines, I mostly use curved lines and patterns.  So, a nice challence for me !
I made two tiles, with a lot of Knightbridge in them.

White on black

This weeks Diva Challenge #216 is to make a white on black tile or ZIA.  I love white on black tiles but I must say I make them rarely.  Looking through my collection I see I've even never made a zentangle in 'stadard format '(3,5") in white on black.  So, I'll do it  this week.  I found it far more difficult to make a pattern in white with my gel pen, then with my black pens.  Also, I find that 'colouring' in white with the gel gen doesn't give a very smooth result.  So, I alway's choose patterns where you don't have to colour a lot, just drawing lines gives for me the best result in white on black. And just adding a bit of white pencil.

Here you can see what I made of it.

Flextangles

I saw some nice examples of Flextangles on the facebookpages of the Zentangle group.  I did not know a Flextangle and looked it up on Pinterest.  Whow, nice examples and a good pattern page with instructions we could use ! So I started with one, and it turned out quite nice.  Then my daughter saw it, and she wanted to make also some flextangles.  In the mean time, she has done already 3 examples !  Here you can see them.

Bunzo worms

For the Diva challenge #217, Laura askes us to make a duotangle with Dex and Bunzo.  I made two tiles with it. The first one with some Bunzo schells around Dex.  In the second one, I wanted to make some Bunzo worms coming out of the black hole of Dex.  I don't know if I succeeded completely... Which one do you prefer ?

Star wars space ship

This weeks Diva challenge # 216 is to use the pattern 'Brella' (by Bunny Wright).  It's a new pattern for me, but I found it a very pleasant one to do.  And as mai 4th is in America 'star wars day', I made the effort to seek some pictures of star wars I could use for my tile.  I was not aware about this 4th mai as a star wars day, but my housmates surely were ! So, I learned also something about them...

I found a nice picture of a space ship and used it for my tile.  Below I also post the picture I started with.  Besides Brella, I used also Diva Dance, Ahh and Strircles.

My first Tangle pattern notebook

Oef ! ! I finally finished my first tangle pattern notebook with step outs.  I used a Moleskine notebook with squares to put in the patterns I already learned and used in a tile.  I was introduced to zentangle about a year ago, and after a short time I felt the need to have a reference of my patterns, so I started to put them in a notebook.  There are 93 patterns in my book, not bad for one year !  And I made an alphabetic register at the back.  It is a really good help when I'm looking for a pattern while I'm drawing. Mostly I used the tanglepatterns.com site for learning and seeking new patterns.  There is a link on the right side of my blog to this site.

My eldest daughter pimped the front cover with some nice looking tape - because the kitten had bitten in it in the beginning, and there were some tooth marks it it :(.  But now I like it again.  She already pimped my second notebook I'm going to start with some other tape. It will take a while I guess before that one will be finished.

Baby Q

Last week a new baby elephant was born in Planckendael, with the name baby Q for now.  That reminded me of a drawing in my sketchbook I made last year in the elephant Temple of the Zoo in Antwerp. It's a kind of Oriental /Egyption inspired building for the elephants. I wanted to make a zentangle of it, but I never took the time to really do it.  So, with the new born baby I finaly wanted to create my tile.

I used the new pattern Fat Man in my tile.  Fat Man is a pattern of my own and based on the drawings and signs around the elephant temple.  You can see some pictures and the step-out for the pattern down here.
